![]() This works with the desktop version of EssentialPIM. Also changes in epim.ini are not automatically copied toe epim_his.ini.ģ - using (as you write) different user profiles Then you can use the HIS.bat or her.bat shortcuts and have separated environments.ĪDVANTAGE: you only have one version of EssentialPIM installed.ĭISADVANTAGE: you need to make a bat/cmd-file to perform necessary actions. Of course you need to make special shortcuts in Windows to start the copy command and start of EssentialPIM. Then you can start essentialpim.exe as usual and with the dedicated epim.ini it will open the desired database. Then before you start EPIM you need to copy the EPIM_his.ini (or her) to EPIM.ini. ![]() The key here is that you need to have two EPIM.ini copies for example EPIM_his.ini and EPIM_her.ini. But that is only storage on the disc, so is it a real disadvantage?Ģ - using a special BAT (CMD) file that executes several commands. ![]() Install the portable version in 2 locations, create two shortcuts (HIS and HER) and everything works as you want.ĭISADVANTAGE: You have two copies of the same software installed. Startup parameters has been asked for a few time before, but so far that is not possible.ġ - using the portable version and install that in 2 locations (I know I could create individual user profiles in Windows and set a different database path in the user/appdata folder, but I'm not sure that would work and it would add additional complexity for shared programs and setup.) We each use the same computer at different times and simply want to avoid opening each other's database. I can't find any simple means to control the startup. ![]() An alternative would be a startup menu to select a database. I simple solution would be to have 2 shortcuts (His Shortcut and Her Shortcut) on the desktop each of which would open a different database (ie "path"/EssentialPIM.exe - Her or "path/EssentialPIM.exe -His). For instance, I have a database and my wife has a database, and never the twain shall meet. ISSUE: I would like to start EPIM using selected database. Not using network or multiple instances of program. Lifetime License, Current Version 7.62, Windows 10 64 Bit OS. ![]()
